Winemakers dinner with Zoetendal boutique wines

Zoetendal Vineyards is located in the Elim region of Cape Agulhas. The area is known for its fresh sea breezes and koffieklip soil, but it is a challenging place to grow wine. Only those brave enough to take on the
harsh southern elements will reap the rewards of growing wine under stress – stressed vines miraculously produce far more flavorful fruit and, as a result, richer wines.
It is the mantra of 'strength in adversity' that creates the special character and quality in the wines from this region.

Zoetendal's history begins with farmer Johan de Kock forming a local collective known as Land's End and taking bold steps to establish viticulture in the region.
The first 15 hectares of vines were planted in the Elim area in 1996, marking the beginning of the world's newest wine-producing area.
In 2004, De Kock went solo and launched his own brand, Zoetendal, producing exceptional boutique wines whose top notes reflect their equally remarkable terroir.

Denzel Swarts grew up in South Africa, near the wine region where Zoetendal Wines is located. He has deep roots in the area and a passion for promoting social sustainability through wine production. As Brand and Sales Executive at Zoetendal, Denzel not only works to market and sell the wines, but he is also actively involved in social and sustainable initiatives in the local area.

Denzel is a driving force behind projects that focus on creating better opportunities for agricultural workers and their families. He has worked to improve educational opportunities for children in wine regions and promote gender equality and empowerment of local communities. Denzel's commitment to these projects reflects his belief that wine production can be a source of positive change in society.
